  • (1888PressRelease) October 13, 2011 - BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS - Barry Libman Inc. announces that it is accepting applications for its Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) exam preparation course. The CCS coding credential is overseen by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

This intensive, accelerated twelve-week course; which runs January to April 2012,
prepares students to take the CCS exam in April or May 2012. Students can apply for admission to the class immediately by visiting http://www.barrylibmaninc.com/intensive-ccs-exam-preparation-registration/

Medical coders interested in earning their CCS credential are encouraged to prepare and do so now before AHIMA coding credential exams undergo significant changes. The current ICD-9-based exams are slated to end March 2013 when all AHIMA coding credential exams will start to be based on ICD-10-CM/PCS. This change was announced by the Commission on Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management (CCHIIM).

Coders interested in the January 2012 exam preparation course are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as enrollment is limited to maximize individual attention.

The course includes four online and eight onsite classes of three hours each, as well as weekly assignments. Onsite classes are held at Barry Libman Inc.'s Conference Center in Concord, MA.

"The CCS exam is very challenging, but careful and thorough preparation can make a difference. Our history has shown that students who take this intensive prep course and do the work required are more than likely to pass the CCS exam," says course instructor Mary Beth York, CCS, CCS-P.

York (CCS, CCS-P) has over twenty years experience in medical record coding, audit and documentation, and has worked in environments ranging from community to teaching hospitals, as well as physician group practices.

York has taught in a broad range of settings from large classroom, to small group, to one-on-one instruction. She has taught CCS and CCS-P exam preparation skills, interventional radiology, and physician education on documentation requirements and assignment of E&M levels. York is a Senior Associate with Barry Libman Inc.
