NAIOP New Jersey Community Action Project Will Benefit Community Food Bank
Association Volunteers will meet at the Food Banks Headquarters to Collect Donations and Work in the Warehouse.
- Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon, NJ (1888PressRelease) July 04, 2013 - On July 19, NAIOP New Jersey, the commercial real estate development association, will team with the Community Food Bank (CFB) of New Jersey in Hillside, N.J., to conduct a food drive and volunteer day. The chapter's 2013 Community Action Project marks the fourth straight year the chapter has worked with the CFB.
In 2012, NAIOP New Jersey members assisted the food bank by contributing more than 1,000 pounds of food, plus substantial cash donations through collections at their respective offices, at association events and through a Virtual Food Drive. Many of the volunteers brought donations with them on volunteer day as well. CFB, a designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization, supplies food to 1,500 soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, after-school programs and senior centers across New Jersey. Of those receiving assistance, 45 percent are children and 10 percent are elderly.
The public is encouraged to donate via a Virtual Food Drive, which can be accessed at http://community.njfoodbank.org/naiopnj.
On July 19, volunteers will spend the day at the Food Bank in Hillside, with a combination of half-day and full-day shifts from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., sorting incoming donations, repacking food and household items and more. Lunch and beverages will be provided, thanks to the generous support of Elberon Development Co.
The 2013 Food Drive is NAIOP New Jersey's latest effort in a long tradition of community service, with the ultimate goal of helping to make the state's communities better places in which to live and work.
