  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) November 19, 2014 - Singer and Actor Steve Higgins will make his Off Broadway acting debut at the Soho Playhouse, this Friday, November 21st in "A Tale of Love", a play produced by Debra Ehrhardt, the award winning writer of the critically acclaimed play, Jamaica Farewell. Higgins brings his vibrant personality and soothing tenor voice to the role, which is almost entirely done in musical form, incorporating songs that we all know and love.

    A Tale of Love is the story about the fortunes of a Jamaican father of two who falls in love with a woman living in the US, who herself has her own brand of love for him. After marrying and losing his innocence, culture shock takes effect and he must now deal with his own reality of managing not just a marriage of two people but also, a marriage of two cultures.

    A Tale of Love is not Higgins first time at the rodeo, he has played a barrister's role in Lorimar's television series "GOING TO EXTREMES" and was nominated best supporting actor in "Beyond the Horizon." He is also a past Lt. Governor of Circle K International in Jamaica. Steve, a recording artist, has two 3 (CD) albums to his credit- "SACRED" an assortment of religious classics and "Dis Long Time" - a collection of authentic Jamaican Folk Songs and a third album "Dem 3 Jamaican Tenors" featuring ballads and R&B with David Reid and Cecil Cooper.

    Steve Higgins is the former Director for MoneyGram International's Caribbean region. He sang and toured with the internationally acclaimed Jamaican Folk Singers for twenty years under the direction of Dr. Olive Lewin, was soloist for the National Chorale of Jamaica, Diocesan Festival, the Methodist Chorale & Jamaica Musical Theatre Company. Throughout his career he had leading roles in theatrical/musical productions in Jamaica (Arawak Gold, Pepperpot, Sweeny Todd, Pepper, A Little Night Music, My Fair Lady, Beyond the Horizon, The Rhythm of Life & romantic musical "The Best Time of your Life", which he also produced). He has appeared with accomplished Jamaican artists and is certified by the Associate Boards of the Royal School of Music (Voice).
