  • (1888PressRelease) August 10, 2013 - Internationally distributed record label MPress Records has announced the beginning of production on Volume 5 of their New Arrivals charity compilation series. 100% of the proceeds from New Arrivals: Vol. 5 (NAV5) will benefit the following Hurricane Sandy Relief organizations: The Red Hook Initiative (Brooklyn), Project Hospitality Staten Island Hurricane Relief Fund (Staten Island) and Graybeards (The Rockaways). The NYC-based independent label has just launched an international search for rising artists in various genres to be on the compilation, via the Sonicbids online submission platform. AAA, Singer-Songwriter, Americana, Rock and Pop submissions highly encouraged, but all styles of music are welcome and will be considered. (For more details visit: http://bit.ly/MPR_NAV5.)

New Arrivals project founder and MPress Records flagship artist Rachael Sage knew immediately following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy that she wanted to help. In December 2012 she donated all of the proceeds from her holiday show at Joe's Pub in NYC to the same three organizations that will now benefit from this compilation. Having experienced Sandy first-hand, Sage recalls "I was without power and heat for five days and really had nowhere else to go so I just stuck it out. I was very lucky though to have only had such a minor inconvenience…All of us at MPress know so many people who were really hit hard by all of it, and who are still struggling."

Set for a digital release in Fall 2013 and a physical release in early 2014, New Arrivals Vol. 5: Artists For Hurricane Sandy Relief is the latest installment in MPress Records' New Arrivals series, created by Sage in 2006 as a project aimed at increasing exposure for exceptional self-released material and showcasing both established and emerging indie artists. Tracks by featured artists receive exposure via a national press campaign, along with Triple A and College radio promotion. Each volume has benefited a different charity: Volume 1 benefited Gulf Coast Hurricane Relief, Volume 2 benefited World Hunger Year, Volume 3 benefited NEDA (National Eating Disorders Association) and Volume 4 benefited The National Network For Youth. NAV5 sponsors include: Blurt Magazine, M Music & Musicians Magazine, The Musician's Atlas, A To Z Media, and DirectCurrentMusic.com.
