  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) October 30, 2012 - The 3rd annual Andre Reyna 'Make a Difference' Car Wash held last Saturday, on October 20, 2012 raised $3,448 for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. The car wash was in memory of fallen UCF student Andre Reyna, who was tragically killed in a car accident during his senior year of college at the age of 21.

"We are so humbled by the generosity shown by everyone who participated," Andre's mother, Odalys Reyna said. "Although this is a very hard time for our family every year, we feel that this is what Andre would have wanted us to do. He was selfless, absolutely selfless. He gave so much of himself while on this earth. There is no better way to honor our son's legacy, than by helping out those in need."

While Reyna was living he was an avid humanitarian. During his lifetime he served more than 15 nonprofit organizations in Orlando. Some of those organizations included Second Harvest Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Coalition for the Homeless and Give Kids the World. He was also an active member of Volunteer UCF and participated in many volunteer projects through this organization.

All of the proceeds raised from the donation-only car wash directly benefited the organization that was closest to Andre's heart, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Second Harvest Food Bank is a private, nonprofit organization that collects and distributes donated food to more than 500 nonprofit partner agencies in six Central Florida counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia.

The Orlando-based auto accident and personal injury law firm of Michael T. Gibson, P.A., was a local sponsor of the event and presented a generous donation. T.G.I. Friday's supplied the location for the car wash and also donated free appetizer coupons to event attendees who received a car wash.
