While addressing to masses Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, Senior Consultant, Psychiatry, Institute of Mental and Life Skills, Moolchand Medcity said "Increased stress, lonely lives and the falling apart of the social support systems like joint families is a major cause of growing depression among Indians. Major problem in India is people don't consider depression as a mental disease that can be treated. There is still a stigma attached to mental illness. Anxiety and depression, which are the most common conditions and can be easily treated, are referred to doctors only when the patient's condition worsens. The attitude of our society towards mentally ill patients needs to change"
