  • (1888PressRelease) August 05, 2011 - Three weeks ago Monte De Oro Winery and Vineyard released their 2010 Sauvignon Blanc. A crisp, clean offering that does not disappoint at $17. Two weeks ago brought the $22 highly popular 2010 Viognier, a staff favorite, to the World. Perfect to pair with hearty Summer salads and light barbecue fare. Last week they were very pleased to announce the release of the 100% Estate Grown 2010 Pinot Gris Galway Vineyard. With initial hints of minerals and spice, this wine offers a nice fragrance of gazanias and white honeysuckles complimented with aromas of bosc pears, peaches, and melon. This light-bodied, bright and crisp, acidic wine offers pleasant tastes of citrus fruit, melon, apricot and inklings of lemon zest. The 2010 Pinot Gris provides a clean, dry lingering finish

    This week Monte De Oro is pleased to announce the Release of the 2009 Chardonay Galway Vineyard.
    Monte De Oro's Galway Vineyard has 4,407 Chardonnay vines on 5.47 vineyard acres.

    This 100% Estate Grown wine was harvested from Monte De Oro's Galway Vineyard on August 28, 2009.

    Brix at harvest was 24.1 and the pH level was 3.68. Monte De Oro's yield was 6.33 tons (or 1.33 tons per acre). Monte De Oro's Chardonnay was crushed and pressed at Leonesse Cellars/Winery in Temecula, California and bottled on June of 2009. The 2009 Chardonnay was 40% barrel fermented in New French Oak barrels and 60% Stainless Steel.

    The 2009 is rich and vibrant with tropical fruit flavors and toasty oak notes. Peach, pear and a touch of pineapple integrate with creamy vanilla. This full-bodied wine has a velvety and lingering mouth feel. Classically Californian!
