MoneyTree CSR Initiative in Kelantan - CashVille Kidz Financial Literacy Program

  • (1888PressRelease) August 03, 2013 - Kota Bharu - MoneyTree (M) Sdn Bhd, in cooperation with Kelantan Council of Religion and Malay Custom (MAIK), organized and conducted the "CashVille Kidz Financial Literacy Program" which was held in SK Sultan Ismail 3, Kota Bharu on 27th July 2013.

    This "CashVille Kidz Financial Literacy Program" was another Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by MoneyTree (M) Sdn Bhd, in their effort towards educating young children on financial literacy and instilling the importance of being financially savvy since childhood.

    Seventy-five standard 4 and 5 students from 20 primary schools across the state of Kelantan participated in this program. Among the schools involved include SK Sultan Ismail 1, SK Sultan Ismail 2, SK Beris Panchor, SK Dato' Abdul Hamid 2, SK Zainab 1, SK Zainab 2, SK Wakaf Bharu, SK Bunut Susu, SK Mentuan, SK Kok Keli, SK Sri Kampong Laut, SK Tanjung Jenera, SK Gong Dermin, SK Bukit Mara, SK Che Latiff, SK Chicha Tinggi, SKIP 1 and SK Kubang Golok.

    Participating students were placed in three classrooms, in which the training program ran concurrently. During the 3-hour class, students were able to experience MoneyTree's innovative and effective teaching model. Students were exposed to various interactive scenarios during the class whereby they were given currencies, food points and utility points; and put through a 'mini economy' in which earning, spending, saving and investing were part of the program syllabus. At the end of the session, an "Auction" was conducted where students were able to bid for attractive prizes with the MoneyTree Currency they earned in the class.

    After going through the session, students were very excited and expressed their interest for more programs similar to "CashVille Kidz Financial Literacy Program".

    "I had fun throughout the engaging training session, and at the same time learned about the importance of saving money. I really love the program and hope that MoneyTree will have more programs like this for us in the future!" exclaimed one of the participating students from SK Sultan Ismail 3.

    Among those who were present at the event were Dato' Nik Kamaruddin Ismail (Chairman of MoneyTree (M) Sdn Bhd), Representatives from Kelantan Council of Religion and Malay Custom (MAIK), Representatives from MoneyTree (M) Sdn Bhd and teachers from several Kelantan primary schools.

    Happy with the success of the program, Dato' Nik Kamaruddin Ismail stated, "We hope to bring such a program again to many more students from other schools in Kelantan, as instilling onto them how to manage their money from a young age would definitely go a long way in shaping their lives ahead."
