  • (1888PressRelease) December 01, 2010 - The inspired flavors of sun-drenched Mediterranean rim countries combine with the relaxed Florida lifestyle in a fresh concept of discovering and sharing exceptional food with a fresh, healthy Mediterranean flare and socializing with friends and family. The place to be is Carmel Café & Wine Bar, a modern Mediterranean neighborhood restaurant located at 2548 N. McMullen Booth Rd, Clearwater.

The café menu is a modern interpretation of regional classics from Italy, Spain, France, Greece and Morocco presented in small plates, large plates, salads, soups and paninis.

The wine list (over 60 labels of Old World and New World discoveries) features wines by the glass in a choice of a three, six or nine-ounce pour as well as wines by the bottle. These wines have been specially selected to effortlessly mix and match with the tempting variety of Mediterranean rim flavors.

Local chef Steve Cook orchestrates an authentic menu with recipes that evolved from a collaboration among top area chefs. The interpretive Mod Med menu is inspired by Old World recipes from Mediterranean countries whose cuisine has influenced the world. Using only the finest quality and freshest ingredients, the Carmel Café menu reflects the sun countries but is uniquely its own.

Some of the signature dishes to share at Carmel Café & Wine Bar include the Mezze Platter Trilogy, which is a trio presentation of edamame hummus, fine herbs hummus and roasted red pepper hummus along with crispy fried feta cheese, baba ganoush, marinated artichoke hearts with peppadew relish and grilled pita bread.

Explore the world of flatbreads with three varieties including the smoked bacon and artichoke presentation made with aged provolone and sun-dried tomato pesto. Classic French steak frites with béarnaise aioli, Greek-style lamb lollypops, and fresh and zesty shrimp ceviche are all adventures in culinary travel brought home to your table at Carmel Café and Wine Bar.

The art-filled ambiance in Carmel Cafe's architect-designed space achieves the ultimate in comfort and informal urban style.

Expect live music on weekends and a full schedule of events such as wine tastings, food and wine pairing demonstrations and more. Carmel Café & Wine Bar is open Tuesday through Thursday 5 p.m.-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m.-12 midnight and Sunday from 5 p.m.-9 p.m.
