  • (1888PressRelease) May 06, 2016 - SMi Group reports : Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia, Korea Aerospace Research Institute, Information and Communications Technology Office (ICT Office) Philippines, Indonesia Institute for Maritime Studies will meet in Singapore this May to discuss current and future MilSatCom requirements and how these are being satisfied.

    Thomas van der Heyden, Senior Programme Advisor, SatKomHan Programme Office, Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia will be presenting on: "Indonesia - Setting up to satellite based net-centric warfare programme with SatKomHan".

    Thomas van der Heyden will discuss SatKomHan - a satellite-based communications infrastructure which will deliver nationwide cyber secure interoperability across all Indonesian Homeland Security Services. He will provide a review of the technical and operational drivers at the foundation of Indonesian Ministry of Defence's new satellite programme.

    Also, Dr Sang-Ryool Lee, Director of GEO-KOMPSAT-2 Programme Office, Korea Aerospace Research Institute will be speaking on: "How GK2 (GEO-KOMPSAT-2) program is ensuring COMS follow-on mission in Korea".

    Dr Sang-Ryool Lee will be discussing the main objectives of GK2 and how to overcome the main challenges of hosted payloads to ensure effective efficiency.

    Furthermore, information security and government system planning will be presented by Brigadier General (Ret'd) Nicolas Ojeda, Deputy Executive Director, Information and Communications Technology Office (ICT Office) Philippines.

    Connie Rahakundini Bakrie, President, Indonesia Institute for Maritime Studies will be speaking on: "The use of satellite and space-based assets to ensure the security of sea lanes of communication in South East Asia".
