Wavves dials up this DIY anthem with more of a hip-hop formula, temporarily straying away from his signature melodic hooks. “No Help…” follows 2016’s “BAD.” A collaborative effort between Wavves and Boston-based record-maker Sammy Adams. The track garnered a considerable buzz online, leading to a mini-tour containing stops in various cities throughout the northeastern United States.

However, Wavves took a year-long hiatus following the conclusion of the performances. He spoke with us about his hiatus, “No Help…” and his upcoming releases…

“After the release of “BAD”, I found myself at a weird crossroads. I didn’t really know who I was as an artist, and my music wasn’t where it needed to be yet. I felt like I needed to mature, personally and musically. When I first started making music I only rapped. I didn’t experiment with melodies and harmonies too much. As I kept writing, my influences and experiences led me to start singing and embedding melodies in my records. Over the past year, I have been developing my vocal range, personal brand, and overall songwriting ability. It is one thing to be able to rap, but it is a whole other thing to be able to craft a song. “No Help…” and my other upcoming releases were written like a year and a half ago and contain more hip-hop influences. As the releases continue over the coming months, you will hear rap, pop, RnB, and electronic records. My engineer, Eric, and I have experimented with many different sounds over the past year, and I feel we have created some really unique content. I can’t wait to share it all with my fans and fans-to-be.”

With a mature, developed, and refined sound, we are excited about Michael Wavves’ upcoming releases and will be watching him grow into a household name.
