  • (1888PressRelease) October 22, 2013 - Author Fay Guilian reaches back to her own experience living at Clark Air Base in the Philippines during the 1980's to form the backdrop of a poignant and realistic look at friendship, love and loss in her new novel, The Sympathy of All Things, a book that crosses the genres of literary fiction and women's fiction.

The title of the book, originates from a quote by the 20th century Swiss psychotherapist, Carl Jung.
"The collective unconscious is common to us all; it is the foundation of what the ancients called 'the sympathy of all things.'"

"Although I am telling the story of people and their connections to each other in a very real way, there is an underlying sense that the connection we have to one another may go deeper than what we see in the physical world," says Guilian.

It is those unspoken ties that set this book apart. The heartbreak and humor come from the inner conversations the main character, Leah Holden, has with herself at unexpected moments. Her ability to transcend circumstances with pluck and trepidation make the book relatable to a wide audience. Early reviews of the new release have been overwhelmingly positive, making it a five star book that shot to number one in it's category in the 2nd day following the free promotion.

One reviewer summed it up this way:
"Overall, The Sympathy of All Things is a novel you will not want to miss it is compelling, well-written, and a delightfully cathartic experience, deserving of all the five-star ratings it will get."

The Sympathy of All Things isn't just a romance. It is a story of realistic people who are trying to change their circumstances, but often feel trapped by fate. For readers who seek adventure on far off shores, yet yearn for something other than the same old boy meets girl, happily ever after story, this book will be a fit the bill.
