  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) April 03, 2015 - The introductions received positive buyer reception to multiple lines of designer motif tableware, drink ware and accessories as well as the unique melamine construction. All products are built for interior or exterior use.

Throughout the new product intros, the signature melamine construction was further highlighted with signage stating, "Touch me, I'm Melamine." While urging attendees to handle the products, Merritt elicited a positively incredulous response from all experiencing the manufacturer's hundreds of table top products for the first time.

"Melamine is not just for summer anymore," said Kim Plummer, sales and marketing manager for Merritt. "It's for every day and we are seeing customers beginning to understand that and how versatile our product really is." All Merritt melamine collections are dishwasher safe and provide options for dressing up dining spaces indoors or out.

Melamine from Merritt USA is created to look like ceramic or pottery via a unique and painstaking process. As a leading casual tableware producer, Merritt has perfected the process to the amazement of retailers. New sophisticated textures and upscale designs include a heavy weight Coral Sandstone and Tuscan Sun collections. The earth-toned tableware designs cross all seasons and the pearl rimmed border provides a fine china look without the fine china care.

Merritt's new Glazed Swirl design, available in both navy blue and brown, received a strong response during and subsequent to the Housewares Show. The collections mimic pottery a fact reinforced by real potters stopping by expressing being fooled by the look. Coordinating acrylic drink ware and fashion mats also were on display to complement each table setting.

Additionally, the new Seaside Postcard collection was introduced featuring square plates in navy and cream with an artistic sea life motif of turtles, starfish, seahorses and crabs. Matching square Rattan placemats in antique white and blue give a rustic feel to this collection that is perfect for any beach house or seaside cottage.

Two proven sellers within the Merritt line that have continued to receive positive response include Natural Elements and Artisan Tile. The turquoise Natural Elements design is inspired by Japanese Gardens and has the look of Raku pottery. When paired with Merritt's acrylic Peacock tumblers in various shapes of reflecting blue and emerald prisms, this collection attracted buyers looking for modern and eclectic table top options.

Artisan Tile, Merritt's heaviest plate to date, was a primary recipient of the touch examination due to its ceramic-like look and feel. "Customers throughout the show felt this collection truly feels like authentic, hand-crafted, embossed ceramic," Plummer said.

Merritt also saw heightened attention within its placemat business with their new line of boutique mats made with Tesselate. Gold and metallic blue mats in both wedge and rectangle were another big hit. "They were so popular that we will be expanding our Tesselate designs for next year's show season," Plummer said.
