  • Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) October 22, 2013 - Mecca Design and Production, a dynamic scenic element and services design/build group, collaborating with The Old State and The Freeman Companies, brings to life larger-than-life vegetables, boulders and trees for the new Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden at The Dallas Arboretum. Mecca fabricated these giant veggies and boulders to house hundreds of interactive kiosks with touch screens for children to enjoy and learn more about the gardens. The venerable designers at The Old State House of Design and Development provided the interactive computers that fit inside Mecca's fiberglass-coated, twirling vine and brightly hued covers and stands.

Visitors will discover giant 12 foot-long vegetables, huge tree stumps, rock formations, cartoon-like flowers, grass green vines, and limestone kiosks. The kiosk project is the first one in a series of one hundred and fifty such interactives for the Rory Meyer's Children's Adventure Park; The Old State designed hundreds of interactive games for all ages to enjoy. Each kiosk is activated through state-of-the-art touch screen and WIFI technology. A special feature of the interactive pieces and giant vegetables, including carrots and cucumbers, is the ability for children to interact with the shapes in a wheelchair, so the pieces are ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. Delighting all your senses, visitors can experience these larger than life forms and learn in a fun way out in the garden.

Kenneth Mecca stated, "We are so excited to be working on this grand project for the children and families who enjoy The Arboretum and will discover the New Rory Meyers Children's Garden. We hope they bring wonder and joy to everyone who visits."
