  • Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) November 10, 2021 - Meals on Wheels South Florida is proud to announce that it has received a donation from UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) in support of its 33rd annual Thanksgiving meal delivery program. The partnership will enable Meals on Wheels to serve twice as many senior citizens this year. Meals on Wheels South Florida is one of the largest of 5,000 Meals on Wheels programs across the country working every day to protect seniors from the threats of isolation and hunger. This effort is made possible by generous donors and volunteers who help strengthen efforts to provide nutritious meals and safety checks to homebound seniors.

Each holiday season, Meals on Wheels South Florida aims to ensure their clients enjoy the holidays as much as possible. In addition to the nutritious meals they already receive, Meals on Wheels South Florida staff and volunteers visit clients on Thanksgiving morning and present them with a hot turkey meal with all the trimmings, home-made placemats, fresh flowers, and a warm smile to let them know they are not alone.

These meals are delivered to clients who are generally alone and without family to visit them for Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving meal box includes a roasted turkey, vegetables, mashed potatoes, rolls, milk, and pumpkin pie. Thanks to the generosity of UKG, seven-hundred seniors will receive this holiday blessing.

“We are so grateful to UKG for providing this extraordinary donation that will support our homebound seniors this Thanksgiving,” said Mark Adler, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels South Florida. “On Thanksgiving, we want our clients to remember that they are not alone and that we are here to provide them with holiday cheer, thanks to charitable community partners like UKG.”

“The experience of isolation is one that resonates a little bit more with all of us these days, but it’s something that many seniors in our community live with each and every day. Because no one should be alone for the holidays, UKG is thrilled to be able to partner with Meals on Wheels to expand the reach of this meaningful holiday tradition in our community,” said Heather Geronemus, Director Corporate Affairs & Corporate Social Responsibility at UKG.

Members of the community can get involved with Meals on Wheels South Florida’s annual Thanksgiving delivery by volunteering their time or making a financial gift. Individuals and corporations interested in getting involved can learn more at mowsoflo.org/volunteer or by calling 954.731.8770.
