Pravia, CPA and principal in the Tax and Accounting Department at nationally recognized public accounting firm Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLC (MBAF), was recently appointed Vice Chair of the Federal Taxation Committee for the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) for the 2012-2013 year and will assume the position of Committee Chair in 2013. Pravia has been serving on the committee for five years.

    The Federal Taxation Committee monitors and provides members of the FICPA with vital tax information and meets annually with officials from the IRS. Among other responsibilities, the committee stays abreast of new developments within the accounting profession and presents the position of the FICPA on federal tax matters to the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the IRS and various members of Congress.

He is on the board of directors for Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, past board member of the FIU School of Business Alumni Chapter, on the Community Investments Committee and past chair of the Audit Committee of the United Way of Miami-Dade and part of the University of Miami Alumni Association.

    Pravia holds a Master of Science in Taxation from FIU and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami. He is a member of the FICPA and AICPA.
