  • Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) October 12, 2018 - Matrix New World Engineering provided comprehensive and environmentally-sensitive site designs to develop a 600 plus acre tract in Jackson, known as the Jackson Woods, with 1,541 apartment and townhouse units. A portion of the site, now known as The Ponds at Jackson Twenty-One, is the second phase of a four-piece development plan that includes 88 mixed-income apartments in eleven buildings as well as a recreation building for use by the Ponds residents.

This site, which was built by the Walters Group, is also home to streams, wetlands, and numerous wildlife habitats. Matrix’s team of environmentally-educated professionals prepared the Preliminary/Final Major Site Plan, Stormwater Management Design, NJDEP Permitting Plans, and Boundary & Topographic Survey, and successfully obtained all required approvals for the project, including those required from the Township of Jackson Planning Board, the Ocean County Planning Board, the Ocean County Soil Conservation District, the Jackson Township MUA, the NJDEP water/sewer permitting, and NJDEP Transition Area Waiver/General.

The Ponds at Jackson Twenty-One is part of the state’s effort to provide affordable housing for residents impacted by Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Matrix continues its intrinsic involvement in the restoration and cleanup of the New Jersey/New York coastlines following the devastation left by the Historical storm.

“Matrix was one of the first companies to respond following the storm, arriving to help with the immediate clean-up of debris, preserving of wildlife, and restoration of our coastline,” said Jayne Warne, PE, President of Matrix. “Our firm is proud to be part of the continued restoration and recovery process and we are happy to be part of the team working with the state, helping to re-build not only homes and boardwalks, but the lives of people most impacted by the disaster and restoration of the natural habitats vital for current and future generations.”
