  • (1888PressRelease) July 28, 2010 - The leading position occupied by MarketingMix & Company Limited in the Marketing Communications industry was established on Friday, July 23, 2010 when it clinched The Best PR Agency Award of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos State chapter.

In that ultimate category of the PR Golden Eagle Awards held at Oceanview Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos, two other leading agencies were shortlisted and nominated. But MarketingMix finished ahead of those contenders -The Quadrant Company (TQC), and CMC Connect.

The next most glamorous award - the Most Outstanding PR Campaign - also went to MarketingMix with the winning entries being Close Up "Brush Day + Night" campaign and the 2008 MTN People Police Marathon. Also nominated in this category were Core Media Services for Lagos State Internal Revenue Tax Campaign and New Face of Lagos campaign, CMC Connect (Launch of The Striding Man Society by Johnnie Walker) and Silver Bullet (LG Launch of the World's First Borderless TV).

The PR Golden Eagle Awards, introduced by Lagos NIPR as competitive awards in Public Relations in Nigeria, was the first in the history of PR practice in Nigeria. It was conceived to beam the searchlight on the practitioners and help them improve their performances so as to raise the standard of practice to the international level and uplift the profession.

The maiden edition featured eight other award categories which included: Best Use of PR on the Print Media (won by CMC Connect for Coca Cola World Cup Trophy Tour), Best Use of PR on the Electronic Media (Core Media Services for the TV Programme, From the Governor's Office), and Best Contribution to the PR Education in Nigeria (TQC for its Thought Leadership Session).

Also competed for were Best Use of PR Department (Public Sector/Government), won by Lagos State Inland Revenue Service for its Tax Campaign); Best New Talent in PR (Ismail Nurudeen Isah of Silver Bullet PR; Most Outstanding PR Practitioner (Female), won by former Lagos State NIPR Chairperson, Mrs Nkechi Ali-Balogun; and Most Outstanding PR Practitioner (Male), won by another former Lagos State NIPR Chairman, Mr. Yomi Badejo-Okusanya.

The 10th category - Best Use of PR Department (Corporate Categories) where MarketingMix had two of its clients shortlisted in a three-horse race was cancelled by the Award Jury on the ground that the entries should have been submitted by the Clients themselves and not their consultancies.

In his reaction, Mr Akin Adeoya, Managing Director of MarketingMix, expressed delight that the company won the awards. He said winning the awards was shocking considering the calibre of consultancies MarketingMix competed against.

Adeoya expressed gratitude to the company's clients for giving the company the opportunity to demonstrate its competence.

He commended the dynamic professionals in the company that enable it deliver cutting edge communications solutions to multinational organisations across the country.

"A dynamic team produces brilliant results. At the risk of sounding immodest, we have a team that has the capacity to unlock any complex marketing communications issue. Our works speak for us as it can be seen from the awards won," Adeoya said.

The awards, he further said, would propel the company to do more in providing services that could make the industry compete favourably at the international level.
