  • (1888PressRelease) March 01, 2013 - Reno-based neo-soul/funk trio, Mark Sexton Band is set to release their brand new six-song EP, Young & Naive, on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Young & Naive is undeniably moving, with thought-provoking melodies, smooth rhythms, lyrics that speak to the heart, and an ambiance that invokes an alluring, soulful mystique. Unique, intricate, and original; the band's new album is a testament to their solid musicianship, refined songwriting and dedicated work ethic.

"The new EP, Young & Naīve, is named after the title song," explains Mark Sexton of his band's new album. "Mostly, I wrote that song about coming in and out of a relationship. I'm at a point in my life where I have left my adolescence and learned some lessons the hard way. We are maturing as people, and as a band."

Young & Naīve is a crowning moment for the Mark Sexton Band, a manifestation of their pride in the production of their perfected sound. Ignoring short-lived musical trends, the sounds from this group leave no room for artificial feeling or contrived songwriting, and instead resolve to be something more meaningful and personal.

"All of the songs are written by Mark, and they give an outside perspective - his music style is brutally honest about what he's feeling at the time. There is something really magical about his creative approach, the songs that he pens are a very true human instinct of the way he lives his life," says bassist Alex Korostinsky.

Sexton's music is all about the soul. Every note from his jazz guitar screams passion, every lyric from the heart. He is the walking talking representation of a true artist and he takes life out mercilessly on his music. It's these qualities that are making Mark Sexton Band the new West-Coast breakout artist of 2013. Joined by bassist Alex Korostinsky and drummer Dan Weiss, this power-trio is striking while the iron is hot.

With six years of relentless touring under their belt, the Mark Sexton Band is a well-oiled touring machine, prepared to hit the road in support of their new release Young & Naīve.

Having recently wrapped up their successful winter 2013 "Don't Sext and Drive" tour in the Pacific Northwest, the trio are rapidly turning heads in the Western United States and beyond.
