  • (1888PressRelease) March 26, 2011 - Nogales, AZ - A dual citizen of the United States and Mexico, Maria Elena Rigoli, President of Collectron International Management, Inc., has been invested in strengthening trade relations between the two countries through the maquiladora industry for more than 28 years. Maria Elena has been personally involved in the start-up and management of 125 international manufacturing facilities in Mexico and she continues to provide leadership at Collectron, the original shelter program, to help the U.S. and other countries establish manufacturing facilities in Mexico.

Maria Elena's experience in the maquiladora industry, combined with her Mexican-American heritage, provides the ideal background to work with an international manufacturing clientele, aiding trade relations in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) bloc by keeping American companies competitive in the global marketplace.

After joining Collectron, Maria Elena advanced to the position of president within seven years through hard work and continued learning - a result of her upbringing with loving parents and her father's focus on traditional values.
"My father taught me independence, the importance of preparing for unforeseen challenges and, above all, the importance of integrity and honesty," said Maria Elena. "Being the eighth of nine children taught me that confidence, independence and patience will help you grow."

Maria Elena is the first woman to be named Businessperson of the Year by the State of Sonora in 2007 and to be recognized as one of 2010's 50 Most Powerful Women in Mexico by CNN Expansión Magazine. She has the cross-cultural understanding vital to the transfer of technology and business plans making Collectron's shelter program accessible and successful to clients.

A strong believer in education and in the growth of the individual, Maria Elena is the President of the Technical University of Sonora (Tech School), which trains many technicians for the maquila industry. In an increasingly more technical world, Mexico has become more technology-oriented, which includes improved environmental resource management. She has spread the importance of recycling through a project she developed within the State of Sonora, Mexico called "Reciclarte," a creative art project that encourages thousands of elementary students to clean-up their city through fun competition.

Manufacturing in Mexico through Collectron offers the benefits of low manufacturing costs and the advantages of near-shoring - a proximity to the U.S. that offers cost- and time-saving advantages over off-shoring to China or India, for example. These manufacturing cost- and time-saving advantages result in savings for consumers in the United States who purchase the finished product. Meanwhile, manufacturing components in Mexico as part of a supply chain for larger projects in the U.S. helps American companies remain competitive in the global marketplace.

Collectron, the original shelter program and maquiladora service provider, provides U.S. manufacturers customized administrative services for their maquiladoras through their shelter plan. Collectron's shelter program gives the client the ability to maintain complete control over production management, while remaining secure in the knowledge that all business administrative requirements are being handled totally by Collectron.

"Just as the Collectron team has worked together to establish hundreds of companies in Mexico, I believe business people in the U.S. and Mexico can continue to work and grow together in a mutually beneficial way," said Maria Elena. "We have so much to offer each other and so much to learn from one another. Collectron is based on this idea and I personally believe that together we will!"

Currently, Collectron has established more than 200 maquiladoras in six Sonoran cities: Nogales, Santa Ana, Hermosillo, Obregón, Agua Prieta and Cananea.
