  • (1888PressRelease) February 26, 2016 - Thanks to the generosity of leading pasta producer Pastificio Felicetti, 4,500 lbs of penne pasta has been donated to Caterina's Club, the nonprofit founded by restaurateur Bruno Serato that feeds 6,000 "motel kids" each week. Serato formed the organization more than a decade ago in honor of his mother to ensure that the region's most vulnerable population - its children -- receive a hot meal before they are tucked into bed each evening. In addition to the nightly meals, Serato has begun placing some of these families into homes of their own.

"I'm delighted to announce the generous donation of pasta by Pastificio Felicetti, which translates into more than 33,000 meals," said Serato, a CNN Hero who was knighted for his humanitarian efforts by the Italian government. "The need to feed these children keeps growing and it's important that we have supporters in the corporate community who recognize this and are willing to step up to the plate, so to speak."
"We were so inspired by Bruno's dedication to the motel kids and his admirable work on behalf of Caterina's Club that we felt compelled to provide support and play our role" said Riccardo Felicetti, CEO of Pastificio Felicetti.

Felicetti said that Cibo California, the newly appointed distributor for Pastificio Felicetti in Southern California, is donating its resources to deliver the large donation.

Serato's extreme generosity has earned him worldwide status in major magazines (People, Elle, Vogue), television ("CBS Evening News," "EXTRA,") and newspapers (New York Times, Los Angeles Times, OC Register) countless times. He was even honored on the steps of the U.S. Capitol with a humanitarian award and has received countless proclamations, Man of the Year awards and other forms of recognition.
