  • Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) May 11, 2019 - The Wayne Library Foundation hosted a book signing featuring Wayne first-time author, Jeffrey J. Antonucci, on May 2 in the main gallery of the Wayne Public Library, 461 Valley Road, Wayne, New Jersey. To an overflowing audience, the author gave a presentation about how he was inspired to write his novel, Deep Within a Blueberry Sky. He then read selected excerpts from the book. The talk was followed by a spirited question and answer session.

It was then, a woman in the audience suddenly raised her hand and without hesitation stated, “I have not yet read your story but in listening to the passages you read to the audience at your book signing event along with your views about the five aspects of love, the illustration on the cover depicts in astonishing vividness the essence of the story within. The title itself evokes contrasting imagery of lightheartedness combined with the intensity and depth of something to behold.

Life is surely a series of gates to be entered that once inside may lead one to paths smooth and rocky where we may enter deep and dark forests and mountains to climb. For those that immerse themselves fully in the journey and prevail there are lessons to be learned, accomplishments attained and light to be found. The title and illustration on your book cover capture that in a provocative manner that is inviting to the mind’s eye.

It’s interesting how the two prominent birch trees at the forefront of the book cover lead one down a smooth path laden with a rocky border to yet another gateway into the entrance of a deep and dark forest of the unknown ending at the foot of a mountain whose top is magnificently lit by the warmth and light of our sun. The various shades of blue are indicative of the stages of our lives illustrated in a way that celebrates both the steadfastness of nature along with a spirituality that is magnificent to behold. It is at that mountain top so inviting where one’s journey ends and the majesty of all that can be seen below is a gift that takes one’s breath away.

If we embrace life with “love” in our hearts in all the forms you spoke of, then we will travel through paths that are smooth and rocky entering gates to the unknown and sometimes dark places but in the end warmth and light will come and majesty will fill our souls. Congratulations on writing your first novel. I look forward to reading it.” Lori Morris, Audience Member

After that stirring and emotional moment, the Author autographed books. For each book purchased, a donation was made to the Wayne Library Foundation. First-time author, Jeffrey J. Antonucci, followed in the footsteps of his father, uncle, and grandfather, all master tradesmen, by working in construction as a bricklayer. The novel is in the genre of magical realism or mystical realism, a type of narrative fiction which has even been considered an art form. Hallmarks of this type of writing, while encompassing a range of subtly different concepts, presents a primarily realistic view of the real world while also adding or revealing magical elements. The book exemplifies the quintessential elements of what the selfless acts of giving and teaching, both profound offerings of love, really signify, and the tremendous good that comes, as a result. The story emotionally and intimately immerses the reader into an epic, coming-of-age journey.

It wasn’t until the idea for this story came to Jeff, as he tells it, like a slideshow before his eyes, that he ever even thought of writing, what would become, this novel. Up until that point, Jeff’s writings consisted of small personal pieces and poems for family members and friends. Currently, Jeff is at work on his next book.

The book was published by Woodpecker Press, Livingston, New Jersey.
