  • Baltimore, MD (1888PressRelease) January 31, 2013 - Wasabi Ventures will welcome the addition of two new education based technology startups to the portfolio. Both LSAT Freedom and Applykit are looking to build off of WV's expertise in helping them further penetrate their given markets.

LSAT Freedom's co-founders expressed optimism at the new partnership. "We are very happy to join Wasabi Venture's portfolio, and look forward to working with their team to further accelerate our growth," said co-founder Rob Tauler.

LSAT Freedom began as a side project for three Harvard Law School roommates, and evolved into a well-regarded online LSAT prep course. "We were attracted to LSAT Freedom by their early success and their innovative test prep platform," commented Wasabi Ventures General Partner, Chris Yeh. The company's online platform allows access to unprecedented amount of instructional material and other resources at a much lower cost than traditional classroom courses.

ApplyKit is a startup targeting students and their families, dedicated to simplifying the college selection process. Students can use ApplyKit to organize materials for prospective schools, digitally share drafts of their essays with teachers and parents, create a timeline of important dates, and track their overall progress with analytics.

Bobby Touran started ApplyKit this past October 2012, intent on disrupting the college readiness market. The company is excited to release the alpha product in the first half of March this year. Touran is Wasabi's first Entrepreneur in Residence and sees Wasabi's involvement critical moving forward. Wasabi Ventures has incubated ApplyKit, and is happy to see it grow from the beginning to where it is today.

Yeh, explains, "There is nothing more rewarding than seeing an idea from the start. Have it work its way into a product that is ready to solve a problem in the market. This is what we at Wasabi are all about." Look for ApplyKit's initial product available this coming March.
