  • Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) January 27, 2012 - Washington, DC's historic Henley Park Hotel brings live jazz to its Blue Bar Lounge every Saturday evening from 7:30 - 11:30 p.m. To celebrate Valentine's Day, February guests will be treated to a rich program of lively American jazz standards, lush ballads, Bossa nova favorites and songs in French and Spanish on the theme of romance with the program Love Songs & Chocolate Martinis.

Performances feature versatile vocalist Nancy Scimone and noted DC jazz pianist Harry Appelman. Scimone has entertained across North America and closer to home at the Kennedy Center, 49 West, Twins Jazz and the Carlyle Club, and DC-based jazz pianist Appelman is an in-demand pianist world-wide. Scimone and Appelman have unique arrangements for their February songs including "They Can't Take That Away From Me," "How Deep Is the Ocean," "It Could Happen to You," "Sabor A Mi," "Sous le Ciel de Paris" and "La Vie en Rose."

Scimone says, "When I sing these songs and see people in the audience holding hands and smiling, it's a thrill. These timeless songs speak to people not only in their 60s, but also to 30-somethings. If guests don't understand the songs in French and Spanish, the melodies and the rhythms offer a romantic mystique. We accept song requests from guests who have a sentimental desire to hear a song they fell in love to -- or a song they'd like to fall in love to if they're with a first-time date." There is no cover charge for the music.

The Henley's Blue Bar Lounge menu has shareable small plates including crispy shrimp, tuna au poivre, calamari and artisan cheeses, and desserts such as pear bread pudding, carrot cake and pecan tarts. Classic cocktails and an extensive wine list are also offered, with a February favorite of chocolate martinis. Cozy tapestry seats and dimmed lighting create the perfect ambiance for conversation and listening.

The Henley Park Hotel is located at 926 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20001. On-street and valet parking are available. Three Metro stops serve the area. To learn more, please call 202-638-5200 or www.HenleyPark.com www.NancyScimone.com
