  • (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2014 - The exhibition will take place at 3 & 4, Floral Place, 7 - 9, Northampton Grove, Islington, London, N1 2PL and will be open from 11 am to 7 pm each day.

The exhibited artworks have been produced by those involved in adoption, including adoptees and adopters and the exhibition is a collection of installations, photography and film. It will give insight into the varying experiences and feelings undergone by those involved in adoption, particularly in terms of loss and trauma, and how these can be both in line with, and at odds with, current public and media perception.

The Open Nest is a charitable project which seeks to attend to the gap in the provision of specialist support services for adopted children and their families dealing with anxiety and trauma related behaviour. They provide practical, realistic and informed support and understand how early trauma can delay a child's development and be emotionally disabling. The Open Nest aim to prevent adoption break downs through recognising and addressing the needs of children and the root of behaviours which can bewilder and challenge their parents and those working with them.

Family Futures is a London based adoption agency who provide comprehensive and integrated therapy child-focused and parent friendly programmes for children who have experienced trauma or attachment difficulties and are living with adoptive or birth parents, foster carers or special guardians. The aim of Family Futures is to make family life sustainable for children who have had traumatic early experiences; Family Futures understand how these early experiences can affect children's development and make them challenging to parent and educate.
