  • (1888PressRelease) February 01, 2020 - Vancouver, known as the Hollywood North, may not be as big and well-known as its counterpart in Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean we don’t harvest real talent here.

Elsi Eng, a Chinese-Canadian actress who has made her vampire debut on “True Blood”, is a rare find in this industry. Elsi grew up in Vancouver, and received her most of her acting training from New York Film Academy. While staying busy on her current career path, Elsi works with kids and teens at Stage One Academy as an acting coach.

In 2019, Elsi has written, produced and directed her first short film “Searching”. This narrative short is about an artist lost in her masks, trapped in time, searching for herself. “And along the way struggling to breathe as life pushes hard against her” Elsi said. “The inner turmoil helps her to discover something gold.” This film has been nominated for Best Sound Editing and Best Trailerbyte for a Feature Film at the Golden Trailer Awards 2019. A Mandarin Chinese version of this film is also available to be enjoyed by Chinese audience as well.

In 2020, Elsi is now gearing up to co-produce and star in a festive short “Ai lun”, working alongside award winning director Hector Abaunza. This is a story about triplet sisters and Elsi will face the challenge of portraying 3 identical looking but different women with their own tragic stories.

“I’m trying to bring most of the production to Vancouver, where I grew up, because I want to showcase the beautiful landscape and cityscape (of Vancouver)” Elsi said. As an actress, she finds wearing the hat a producer exhilarating, she said “I’m finally doing things I have always wanted to do but didn’t because I tricked myself into believing that I was too young, too old, too basic, too out there…”
