  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) November 08, 2013 - Beginning May 21, 2014, all commercial drivers seeking a medical certificate must use a medical examiner on the National Registry of Medical Examiners. Those physicians who wish to conduct medical examinations for CMV drivers must complete training about FMCSA's physical qualifications, regulations and advisory criteria and pass a certification test to be listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

All medical certificates issued on or after this date must be issued by examiners listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. This means that if you have been seeing your primary care doctor for your CDL physical, starting on May 21, 2014, unless they are certified by the National Registry, they are no longer able to perform them and give you your medical certificate.

Dr. Howard Austrager, chiropractor in Framingham, is one of only a few doctors who is certified by the National Registry Certified Medical Examiner in the Boston area.
