  • (1888PressRelease) November 07, 2012 - Senior executives from two of the largest landowners in Orange County - the Irvine Company and Rancho Mission Viejo - and popular homebuilders Ryland Homes and Shea Homes are entering the boxing ring on November 9, 2012, to raise funds for HomeAid Orange County.

The first-ever "Fight For A Cause" event will take place at 6:00 p.m. at Urban Arena, 3195 Red Hill Avenue, in Costa Mesa. All of the proceeds will be donated directly to HomeAid Orange County to build doorways of hope for children and families.

"'Fight For A Cause' promises to be one of the most exciting and innovative opportunities yet for people to support HomeAid OC," said Scott Larson, executive director of HomeAid Orange County, based in Irvine. "The idea of stepping into a ring for most people is outside their comfort zone, and this is what makes it such an exciting challenge. The best part is that all of the money raised will help build much-needed doorways of hope for children and families in Orange County."

'Fight For A Cause' will feature six boxing matches, including four professional fights. Getting into the ring before the professionals are four of Orange County's most prominent real estate executives. In one match highlighting community development executives, Dave Conley from the Irvine Company will face Paul Johnson from Rancho Mission Viejo. That match will be followed by one featuring homebuilding presidents Richard Douglas of Ryland Homes and Bob Yoder of Shea Homes.

"It's a fantastic experience to get in the ring, especially when these guys have never done anything like this before," said Michael Schrock, chief executive officer of Urban Arena, who is hosting the fundraising event. "This is a great opportunity to raise much-needed funds for HomeAid OC and, hopefully, have a lot of fun. To me, everyone who goes in the ring is a winner and all are brave to go in there for such a good cause."

An all-inclusive $50.00 charitable admittance fee includes the viewing of all boxing matches, unlimited food and beverages and a hosted after-hour party. Additionally, VIP ringside seating with waitress service is available, as is the opportunity to be a celebrity boxing judge and celebrity referee - with all of the proceeds raised going to HomeAid OC.
