  • San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) September 14, 2011 - Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation's largest employment and labor law firm representing management, has been recognized as a leading law firm for women by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE), a division of Working Mother Media, and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC®, marking the third year that Littler has been bestowed with this honor.

"This recognition is particularly gratifying as the retention and advancement of our female attorneys is a core firm value," said Marko Mrkonich, president and managing director of Littler. "We are deeply committed to supporting our women lawyers and implementing new female- and family-friendly policies that encourage their professional success."

The 2011 Best Law Firms for Women application was developed in a partnership between Working Mother Media and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC. Firms with at least 50 lawyers were eligible to apply and the application included detailed questions about the issues that are most important to the retention and promotion of female lawyers. The 50 winning firms were selected based on responses to an application measuring areas such as workforce profile, family-friendly benefits and policies, flexibility, leadership, compensation, advancement and retention of women.

"The 2011 Best Law Firms for Women are encouraging the retention and promotion of women, in addition to creating conducive work environments for all lawyers to thrive," said Deborah Epstein Henry, founder and president of Flex-Time Lawyers. "By offering leadership and business development opportunities for women, along with generous flexibility, parental leave and childcare programs, these firms are better poised to retain and promote the brightest legal minds, with the goal of reaching parity for women in the profession."

Littler has created numerous initiatives geared towards the firm's female attorneys, including its Women's Leadership Initiative, which supports and educates women on ways to enhance and increase leadership opportunities while maintaining a balance between career and home life. The firm also offers remote working opportunities and flex-time options. More recently, the firm introduced its FlexTime Attorney program designed to promote work-life balance and create alternate career paths for Littler attorneys. As a result of these and other female-friendly programs, the firm has built a practice in which 47 percent of its lawyers are comprised of women.

Littler and the 50 Best Law Firms for Women and their work/life and women-friendly policies will be featured in the fall 2011 issue of NAFE magazine and are profiled at nafe.com, www.workingmother.com and www.flextimelawyers.com.
