(Littler), the world's largest employment and labor law firm representing management, has added highly-regarded attorney John Scalia as a shareholder in its Northern Virginia office. Scalia joins the firm from Greenburg Traurig, where he focused his practice on representing government contractors and technology companies in the Northern Virginia business community. Before Greenberg Traurig, Scalia practiced for ten years in the San Francisco Bay Area.

"John has an excellent professional reputation throughout the region, and we are excited to add him to our Northern Virginia roster," said Thomas J. Flaherty, managing shareholder of Littler's Northern Virginia office. "His broad experience in the courts within our region and in Equal Employment Opportunity, wage and hour and unfair competition litigation will add to our depth in each of those areas."

With over two decades of employment law experience, Scalia represents employers in breach of contract, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, wage and hour and non-compete actions. He has significant experience defending Fair Labor Standards Act collective action litigation and discrimination class action litigation. In addition to his litigation practice, Scalia routinely counsels companies on virtually all aspects of the employment relationship, including: wage payment, wage and hour and worker classification; hiring and firing and employee performance and conduct; internal employee complaints and workplace investigations; leaves of absence and disability accommodation; employment agreements and restrictive covenants; personnel policies and procedures; human resources and management training and workforce restructuring, layoffs and reductions in force.

"I am looking forward to starting the next phase of my career here at Littler," said Scalia. "The firm's renowned labor and employment practice, attorney expertise and state-of-the-art resources will enable me to provide our clients with the best representation available."

Scalia is active in the business community and a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the Fairfax County (VA) Bar Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Fairfax County (VA) Chamber of Commerce and the California Bar Association.

Throughout his career, Scalia has been recognized for his work by his peers, the media and the legal industry. He was named a Virginia Super Lawyer (2008-2012) and D.C. Super Lawyer (2009-2012) by Super Lawyers magazine, included in Best Lawyers in America (2013) and the International Who's Who of Management Labour & Employment Lawyers (2010-2012) and recognized by the Washington Business Journal as a "Top Employment Litigation Attorney" (2008-2011).

Scalia received his J.D. from Northwestern University in 1991 and his B.A. from Santa Clara University in 1987.
