  • (1888PressRelease) February 07, 2011 - Linzi Stoppard from esteemed rock electric string duo FUSE, unveiled the world's most expensive, million-pound Swarovski Crystal encrusted electric violins at New Town Plaza, Shatin, Hong Kong. Her fellow violinist, Ben Lee, held the Guinness World Record for the Fastest Violinist in the World with a time of 58.51 seconds. On New Year's Eve Ben set a new time of 56.07 seconds performing "Flight of the Bumblebee" at over 14 notes per second live on national TV and in front of the 8,000 live audience. As a result Ben was labelled by the Hong Kong media as "Lightning Hand"!

Following in the footsteps of international superstars Madonna, Michael Jackson and Kylie Minogue, FUSE's Linzi Stoppard and Ben Lee were selected by Swarovski to embellish each of their bespoke Bridge instruments with an incredible 50,000 crystals each, every one hand-applied, creating the world's most expensive electric violins. Both sparkling pieces were on display at New Town Plaza from between 12-15 December 2010 and again on 29-31st December for the media to see. This was the first time the FUSE Signature Swarovski Crystal Violins were seen in Hong Kong or mainland China. These incredible works of art had their world debut at an exhibition by Linzi Stoppard and Ben Lee in-store at Harrods in London.

Linzi Stoppard who is married to the son of the esteemed playwright, Sir Tom Stoppard, is both a successful model as well as a virtuoso musician. She formed electric string duo FUSE with the Fastest Violin Player Ben Lee and successfully rock the British classical music circle with their unique and contemporary take of what is generally considered to be a traditional instrument. Not anymore, with the release of FUSE's new album they quickly established themselves as "the most innovative string act for over a decade". FUSE are rock violinists, pioneering a new musical sound for all ages.

Linzi said "These wonderful examples of what an electric violin can be; a piece of extraordinary art and a true working example at the same time. I am so glad to share our music with the fans in Hong Kong and look forward to surprise Hong Kong fans with another breakthrough performance on the New Year Eve at New Town Plaza."

On New Year's Eve FUSE performed an electrifying set from their new album of pop/rock anthems including Michael Jackson's Beat It, Joan Jett's I Love Rock N Roll, Lady Gaga's Bad Romance and Lady Marmalade to name a few…

"FUSE" features 14 incredible tracks which have been reworked and reanimated in the unique FUSE way. The duo have had to invent new ways to render melodies that were vocal on the original tracks. FUSE aim to prove that the electric violin can be as versatile as the electric guitar. What FUSE do can have a truly global appeal; there are no language barriers. Whilst they are very proudly a string band, listeners can sing along to the choruses that we all know. With the release of "FUSE", FUSE will be bringing their unique brand of entertainment to a whole new audience, let's hope they are ready!
