  • (1888PressRelease) May 12, 2011 - Karen Pierce Gonzalez, the 'Queen of Folklore' and publisher of Folkheart Press will join Nancy J Reid and Lisa D. Smith as a guest co-host on Big Blend Magazine's special American Heritage Fest internet radio show Friday May 13, 11am-2pm, PST.

    Gonzalez is an award winning fiction and non-fiction writer and in 2007 founded Folkheart Press. The press publishes books that celebrate; folktales, folk art, folk music, and food lore. For 2011 the press will release titles including Folklore You Can Eat and Plan It, Clean It: Folklore, Fact and Fun.

    "Our books encourage people to discover their own folktales as well as read about the folktales others have captured," said Publisher Karen Pierce Gonzalez.
    The American Heritage Radio Fest will air live on Big Blend Magazine's blogtalk radio show. Many experts will be interviewed for the show including historians, folklorists, authors, musicians and food and culinary experts, among others.

    Gonzalez's expertise comes from her extensive experience as a journalist and writer. She earned her degree in Anthropological Linguistics/Folklore from Sonoma State University and is a member of the Western States Folklore Society. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards including nomination f or the Pushcart Prize (2006) and awards from Farmhouse Magazine (2006), National League of American Pen Women, California Writers Association, and others. She also has been teaching writing classes and workshops for over 15 years.
