  • Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) September 14, 2011 - LED Source, a national and international supplier of LED lighting, ranks as one of the top 5000 private, employee-based firms in America, according to the September 2011 issue of Inc. magazine.

LED Source was ranked No. 1533 overall in this year's Inc. 500|5000, a list that highlights the top privately-held American companies that are growing. Though the past several years have been challenging for most small businesses, LED Source has experienced an average of 40-50 percent growth each year since its founding in 2005 and successfully launched a franchise program in October 2009. Franchise locations have opened in Eastern Canada, Dallas, Lawrence and Wichita, Kan., Bloomington, Ind., Los Angeles, and Des Moines, Iowa. The company is also developing in Western Canada, New York, San Francisco, Illinois, Hawaii and Colorado and expects to sign 30 franchise agreements this year, with at least 20 locations in operation.

"We're honored and proud to be recognized in this year's ranking," said Marcel Fairbairn, president and CEO of LED Source. "It's been a challenging time for all small business owners and it shows the dedication we have to our business model, franchisees and the continued growth and success of this brand."

LED Source specializes in full-scale evaluations and retrofits through its Retrofit Division in addition to providing consultation all the way through to supply on new projects within their Architectural and Entertainment Divisions. LED (light-emitting diode) lighting is the most energy-efficient lighting solution currently available that is both fiscally smart and ecologically sound when compared to both incandescent and compact fluorescent lighting (CFL).

Market tracker Strategies Unlimited predicts global sales of general-purpose LEDs will triple to $14.9 billion in 2013 from $5.1 billion in 2008, a compound annual growth rate of 24 percent.

After establishing its franchise program in 2009, LED Source gained the recognition of becoming North America's first and only franchisor of LED lighting, leveraging its huge buying power to provide discount pricing and cost-saving retrofits to customers as it seeks to play a key role in a fast-growing marketplace with unlimited potential. Applications include commercial office space, schools, churches, theaters, art galleries, restaurants and nightclubs, special events, residential and landscape lighting and much more, including the world's largest cruise ship and the stadium that played host to Super Bowl XLIII.
