  • (1888PressRelease) September 16, 2010 - Napa, CA - ArtistWorks, Inc. (AWI) DJ Qbert, leader of the Qbert Skratch University, has been awarded the title of "America's Best DJ" by popular vote in the annual contest and summer nightlife tour sponsored by DJ Times magazine and Pioneer DJ.

The annual America's Best DJ Contest aims to foster the growth of US DJ culture by encouraging music fans to support their favorite American DJs. Choosing from a nominated panel of the Top 100 DJs in the United States, fans voted online at AmericasBestDJ.net and in person at 20 tour stops at some of America's top nightclub venues.

Qbert was selected number one out of 100 nominees for pioneering the art of skratch and maintaining its relevancy in the club scene with active performances, and for sharing his legacy via the Qbert Skratch University online. Inside the QSkratchU DJ Qbert provides a learning experience for turntablists around the world to study using the groundbreaking online video lessons-exchange platform and active online classroom created by ArtistWorks.

"Skratching Lives!" says Qbert in response to the news, "What a great opportunity to show that we DJs are musicians. Thank you to all the folks at DJ Times, QSU, Thud Rumble, and everyone supporting the art of skratch!"

DJ Qbert, America's Best DJ 2010, will be honored on October 2 in Las Vegas at the ABDJ Closing Party at Ghost Bar in The Palms Hotel & Casino. After being presented his trophy (a special gold-plated Pioneer mixer) by 2009 America's Best DJ winner Z-Trip, DJ Qbert will perform at the Rain Nightclub for Paul Oakenfold's infamous Planet Perfecto party.

"We're thrilled for Qbert that the voters supported him in such numbers. Obviously, he's always commanded respect from the DJs, but it's great to know that the fans still hold him in such high regard. Hats off to Qbert," comments DJ Times editor Jim Tremayne.
