  • (1888PressRelease) May 08, 2019 - Canadian entertainer and philanthropist best known as Layne “The Auctionista” is raising awareness and celebrating International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia with the release of their new YouTube series “The Helpless Butch”. In the first episode, being released online May 17th, expert baker Stacey Bester (Sweet Bakery) teaches Layne the fundamentals of baking as they create a themed cookie from scratch. The cookie made in the episode will be sold at Sweet Bakery from May 13-17 with 100% of the proceeds going to Rainbow Railroad, an international charitable organization that helps lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals escape violence and persecution in their home countries.

This passion for philanthropy comes as no surprise as Layne works with hundreds of non-profits across North America, helping them raise millions of dollars at charity gala events. As Canada’s Top-Ranked Benefit Auctioneer Specialist, Layne has been respectfully coined the “Philanthrotainer”. Layne has shared a stage with figures such as Sarah McLaughlin and basketball GM Masai Ujuri and has given PM Justin Trudeau a few laughs with their hilarious on-stage antics.

When speaking to fundraising, Layne says, “I am devoted to sharing joy and making people feel appreciated and inspired to donate to charity. I want them to feel great about philanthropy, just as I do.”

Trained at World Wide College of Auctioneering and a former Director of Development in the charitable sector, Layne applies their experience and profound niche knowledge to every aspect of fundraising planning and performance. As a top Benefit Auctioneer Specialist with over 1,000 events under their belt, Layne raises millions of dollars for charities every year and believes that “by inspiring giving, we make communities stronger”, which is why they have made a career of fundraising for decades. Through the development of LayneWay™ Fundraising Techniques, Layne travels across the country educating non-profit staff and volunteers; giving them a step by step breakdown on how to move the dial on philanthropy and make the most of their fundraising events. Layne also acts as a keynote speaker; engaging various audiences about the importance of breaking down barriers and the power of finding your voice.
