    The Artists:

Kimberly Clemmons "Chicagokim" - Growing up in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Chicagokim was surrounded by an incessant beat. Trains passing routinely by her family's apartment, homeboys in their cars blaring their music, the call of young people in the street jockeying for various hierarchies, daily visits to the beach, even in the winter, guitar lessons in the Fine Arts Building, sirens from the firehouse a block away…this was her life as a young Chicagoan. While Kim is not completely sure how all this has affected her journey towards art, almost 25 years later and her work is almost symbolic. Kim only uses rollers; she has not mastered the art of controlling a brush. Her most significant influence besides her home town of Chicago is the Bible and Rothko. Kim is intrigued by the way we are affected by others and the way we affect others; our choices and what they mean. The importance of reminders is also a huge influence on her work.

Sophia Buddenhagen - Sophia was born to Greek American parents in Fulda, Germany. Because Sophia has lived and traveled all over the world it is reflected in her Abstract and Surf inspired art. Sophia's paintings consist of color, random words, letters, numbers and familiar imagery. She uses mixed media such as acrylic, water color, spray paint, ink, and oil pastels to enhance the visual, multiple layers and textural aspects of her paintings. You can find her retail line of work at stores ranging from Ohana Surf & Skate to IKEA. Sophia believes art is a way to help people learn more about themselves; expand upon their creativity and to become more aware of their world and people around them.

Julianne Christoffel - Since the age of ten Julianne has been exploring her creative side. She started her artistic endeavors with drawing and throughout the years picked up painting, dancing, writing, music (piano, guitar, and singing), acting, and of course, photography. Julianne has the tendency to cycle through her art forms, spending a month or two concentrating on one of them and then eventually moving on to the next. Photography though, seemed to be relatively constant throughout her life. Julianne started her life in photography with a simple, point-and-shoot film camera. Originally, she used her camera primarily to aid in her drawings and paintings. Julianne states that, "one of the great things about being a photographer is that it can change your view of the world around you. Everything you see is a potential photograph - a piece of art. Personally, it makes me admire the world around me much more." Julianne doesn't have a particular style to her photography outside of just simply communicating a concept or just the mere brilliance of how she views something or someone.
