  • Las Vegas, NV-AZ (1888PressRelease) September 30, 2011 - Glenn Frank, founder of Frankly Good Coffee, LLC, announced today his active support of the Café Femenino Foundation in its mission to raise money to support women coffee producers all over the world. Frank roasts and sells coffee on site at four of the farmers' markets around the Las Vegas Valley, and is giving customers a 20% discount on their purchase of Café Femenino coffee when they donate either in person or online at www.coffeecan.org.

Coffee is the second largest traded commodity in the world next to oil. Women coffee producers make up 30 percent of the 25 million coffee growers that are responsible for producing 75 percent of the world's coffee. Harsh gender inequality, poverty and abuse are rampant in these coffee production regions. Most women coffee producers have no rights, no income and are abandoned by their husbands.

Frank started his business to rescue southern Nevadans from the mediocre cup of coffee. When he discovered Café Femenino during a recent buying trip to Seattle, he had an inspired idea - "A lot of the coffee chains are giving away free coffee for National Coffee Day. When I was able to purchase beans from Café Femenino at the Bid for Hope auction, I knew that as a small business owner I could make a real difference. This is bigger than a free cup of coffee for one day. This helps women coffee producers have a better life."

The Café Femenino Coffee Project is a social program for women coffee producers in rural communities around the world. More than 1500 women in Bolivia, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru are active in the project to achieve empowerment, build social and support networks, and earn incomes through the production and sale of the Café Femenino Coffee. The success of the Project initiated the creation of The Café Femenino Foundation, which provides grants to select programs and projects that enhance the lives of women and their families in coffee growing communities around the world.

Says Frank, "We've had several requests for Fair Trade Organic coffee beans - FTO is one of our top sellers. This is my way of not only rescuing coffee drinkers from mediocre coffee, but also supporting the women who work so hard for something that we totally take for granted." To learn more about the Café Femenino Foundation, visit their website at www.coffeecan.org.

Customers who purchase the Café Femenino beans from Frankly Good Coffee during the dates of 9-21-11 through 11-6-11 (while supplies last) will receive a 20% discount (up to $2.00 per bag) when they donate at least $2.00 to the Foundation.
