  • (1888PressRelease) October 07, 2010 - Lalit Hotels have major expansion plans with a budget of Rs. 2,369 crore, of which 40 percent has already been spent. They are going to build hotels in major cities and metros, like Chandigarh, Jaipur and Kolkata by 2011, and Ahemdabad, Amritsar by 2012. They have also picked up four hotels in disinvestment in Bangalore, Khajuraho, Udaipur and Kolkata, and are also coming with several mid segment hotels.

    The Lalit Hotels are also coming up with budget hotels across the country with two hotels under development in Pune and Bangalore, with more coming up in Gujarat and Punjab.

    Lalit Hotels aims to offer limitless hospitality, by establishing the Lalit experience, by creating a uniquely Indian atmosphere, and by developing a destination, not just a hotel, like the Lalit Utsav at their hotel in Kerela. The Lalit Hotels are also working on two restaurant brands: Baluchi, the Indian restaurant, and 24x7 which is an all-day dining restaurant to add to the Lalit experience.
    Ms. Jyotsna Suri, CMD, Bharat Hotels believes that the hospitality industry has a secure future. The potential for not only international tourism, but domestic tourism is bright. There were 5 million international arrivals and 550 million domestic travelers last year.

    Ms. Suri says that the Mumbai attacks had seriously affected the hospitality industry but things have improved gradually and she believes that this year would bring even better results.
