  • (1888PressRelease) March 21, 2013 - Keith Lyle, best known as the snarky 21 dealer in the hit movie "The Hangover" continues to establish himself in the world of stand up comedy as one of the "up and comers" to watch.

He spent most of 2012 touring comedy clubs in the United States as well as acting in a few commercials and TV shows. Adding to his busy schedule, in July he went on his first trip overseas, telling jokes to the hard working heroes of the armed forces. It was a week long comedy tour of the bases throughout Kuwait. This year, Lyle already has two joke telling trips for the troops booked, with more in the works. These type of bookings are hard to come by for the average stand up comedian.

"I don't think there is any greater honor bestowed on a comic than being asked to perform for the troops," said Lyle. "They put their life on the line so that we can enjoy our freedoms. They are the backbone of what makes this country great."

Lyle's first tour will start in Afghanistan and go through Kyrgyzstan. He is a featured member of "Don Barnhart's All Star Comedy Show" for Armed Forces Entertainment. Also making the trip are Jeff Capri from Comedy Central, and Slade Ham from XM/Sirius Satellite Radio. The show is headlined by Bob Hope Award winner Don Barnhart. "I think it's important to bring laughter to the troops overseas and let them know they are not forgotten," Barnhart stated in a recent phone interview.

"This one is a little different than last year's deal in Kuwait," commented Lyle. "Since that trip was in July, there was a lot of heat. In Afghanistan, there's a whole different kind of heat. Skirmishes can break out at any time. I had to take a class on spotting possible terrorists. I'm was taking the class and thinking to myself , 'This stuff just got real'."

He will follow it up with the second tour to Jordan, Lebanon, Portugal, Greece and Italy. "The most difficult part of the trips, for me is being away from my wife for so long," said Lyle. "But then I think about how long the troops are away from their wives, husbands and families. My sacrifice is microscopic compared to these folks. They are heroes in every sense of the word."

Lyle has quite a few projects in the pipeline. As well as punching up Hollywood scripts, he is also currently working as an Associate Producer on a documentary film called "Reefer Rendum". The project takes a humorous approach to the controversial subject with interviews by celebrities, law enforcement, medical personnel, government agencies and stand up comedians.
