  • (1888PressRelease) July 29, 2011 - JUSTIN HINES grew up singing in church at his grandmother's behest but the realization that he was going to be a singer and songwriter came at a most unlikely place many years later. When the wheelchair bound14-year old entered a competition to sing the national anthem at a Toronto Raptors' home game and won, he found himself thrown into the deep end.

A new world opened up before him when he connected with the crowd and just as his audience has grown, Justin's artistic development has progressed as confirmed by his new album, DAYS TO RECALL, scheduled for release August 2 on DECCA RECORDS and ORANGE LOUNGE RECORDINGS, distributed by UNIVERSAL MUSIC.

He has performed professionally ever since and flourished against odds that might daunt a less resolute spirit. Admitting that the condition that confines him to a wheelchair presents difficult challenges, Hines chooses to see the good things in his life and he is decidedly grateful for the opportunities he has to encourage others.

He has dangled over the edge of a skyscraper in San Diego, been invited to represent the Province of Ontario in a series of prolific television commercials. and performed at both the Beijing and Vancouver Olympics. Recently he lent his song "Say What You Will (South African Remix)" to a South African campaign to makeover 20 schools for 22,000 students in 11 days. Justin and his band performed there this spring and they witnessed the positive results first hand.

"I have a hard time leaving things negative," he says.
"I think every situation can lead to something better."

That optimism permeates Days to Recall and the American debut coincides with a PBS Concert Special with Justin's guests, Ron Sexsmith, Natalie MacMaster, Donnell Leahy, Sierra Noble, and the Canadian Tenors.
