  • (1888PressRelease) June 18, 2013 - ALLENTOWN, PA - JustFoodERP software and services have been recognized as one of this year's Top Green Providers in the food and beverage supply chain, as selected by Food Logistics magazine. The criteria for the recognition focuses on supporting sustainability in the global food supply chain, with profiles of companies who are exceeding industry standards in their sector. This year's list includes food producers and manufacturers, 3PLs and transportation and logistics providers, equipment manufacturers, software and technology providers whose products and services are driving sustainability from farm to fork.

"Given the importance of sustainability and reducing a company's carbon footprint in the food industry today, we are honored to be on this exclusive list of Top Green Providers in the food supply chain," says Marc DiGiorgio, VP, JustFoodERP. "Our software helps food companies reduce their use of paper with automated business processes and data entered directly into their ERP system, as well as reduce food waste via accurate, real time and detailed inventory management. Integration of production data in JustFoodERP results in the recording of meaningful measures of energy consumption by production area."

JustFoodERP customers with outstanding sustainability best practices include Giovanni Food Company and Bruce Foods, one of America's largest privately owned food manufacturers. Giovanni Food Company uses renewable energy and received Green-e certification to produce one of its pasta sauce lines. Bruce Foods' green initiatives include 40% reduction in their on-site greenhouse gas emissions, recycling of all paper and plastic materials waste from all four of their plants, and extensive water recovery.

"Food producers and manufacturers have a longstanding and unique relationship to sustainability and environmental conservation considering their dependence on water resources and arable land," noted Lara L. Sowinski, editor-in-chief for Food Logistics. "In recent years, sustainability has also become critical to other players in the global food supply chain, particularly transportation and logistics providers, equipment manufacturers, software and technology companies, and others who recognize that incorporating sustainable practices leads to more efficient, ethical, and profitable organizations."

The 2013 Top Green Providers list, including JustFoodERP, will be profiled in the June 2013 issue of Food Logistics, as well as online at www.foodlogistics.com.
