Jud Richland Named AANP CEO
The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians is pleased to announce the appointment of Jud Richland as its new CEO. For the last 25 years, Richland has been a national leader in advancing national prevention and public health policy.

"In Jud, we found that person. Under Jud's leadership, naturopathic medicine will continue its remarkable growth and advance the health of an increasing number of Americans each year."
Richland comes to AANP from Partnership for Prevention, a national health policy organization, where he served as President and CEO. He had previously held the same position in the organization's early years. Richland previously served for seven years as Executive Director of the American College of Preventive Medicine, the national medical specialty society representing preventive medicine physicians. He also served for seven years as Deputy Director and Acting Executive Director of the Public Health Foundation.
"I am thrilled to be joining AANP at such an exciting time. I share AANP members' commitment to prevention, to treating the whole person, and to strengthening the body's instinct for self-healing. I have yet to meet an AANP member who does not bubble over with enthusiasm and passion for his or her work. I feel privileged to be able to support such outstanding physicians."
Richland will be responsible for leading AANP's federal and state advocacy efforts. AANP's advocacy goals include ensuring that the new health reform legislation expands patients' access to naturopathic physicians and that additional states license naturopathic physicians. Richland will be responsible for increasing awareness of naturopathic medicine's scientific foundation and for expanding the body of naturopathic medicine research. He will also lead AANP's efforts to expand continuing naturopathic medical education offerings, to help members build successful practices, and to collaborate with organizations that share AANP's mission of advancing prevention-oriented, whole person care.
Richland received his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California at Berkeley, a master's degree in public health from George Washington University, and a master's degree in public affairs from the University of Texas.
