    Event Synopsis:
The Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute are two of the most important tools used by the federal government to fight fraud and abuse in the healthcare sector. By imposing stiff criminal penalties to offenders, the government reaps favorable results in alleviating illegal activities, and in ensuring compliance from healthcare providers.

Moreover, although these laws grant safe harbors and exceptions which undeniably help compliance, providers must still be cautious to avoid challenges and pitfalls, especially in an ever-dynamic sector such as healthcare. Federal updates impacting healthcare laws, like the Bipartisan Budget Act legislation last February 2018, must also be taken into consideration.

To help healthcare providers and other affected entities prevent risks of violation, Mr. John Jones (Partner, Pepper Hamilton LLP) will provide an in-depth discussion of Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute. Mr. Jones will also present substantive insights guided by the most significant and latest developments and will offer practical strategies in maximizing the safe harbor provisions and exceptions.

    Key topics include:
    • Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute
    • Safe Harbor Provisions and Exceptions
    • Important Updates and Developments
    • The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018
    • Compliance Challenges and Pitfalls
