  • (1888PressRelease) October 07, 2011 - There's a saying that "All politics are local," and it's true! There's no representative that affects your life more directly than your local representative, the person who influences the streets you drive on, the police who keep you safe, the fire fighters who rescue you when you're in danger, even the simple but essential things like the lights that help you find your way home at night and the sewers that help keep you healthy.

A local representative doesn't work at 12th and Cambie-at least a good one doesn't. A local representative is on the street, meeting with you and your neighbours, talking to the folks on the corners, and in the stores and pubs. A local representative can be found talking to people after Church on Sunday, after Synagogue on Saturday or after Mosque on Friday. A local representative knows that he or she has only one job:To be YOUR VOICE at City Hall.

For the last eight years, I've been your neighbour in East Vancouver, and now I'm seeking your help and support to become that voice-your voice-downtown.

I'm passionate about speaking up for those who can't always speak up for themselves. For the last six years, I've worked as a lawyer for a program called Prepaid Legal. I don't represent big corporations. My day-to-day job is helping everyday people like you with everyday problems as simple as a difficult landlord or a former spouse who's not paying child support or as complex as a rejected Workers' Compensation claim or a difficult immigration issue.
I believe that government can never be too transparent and there is no such thing as "overly honest" or "too much integrity."

Please join me, as your NPA candidate for City Council, in spreading the word to your family and friends that I will be your voice at city hall as well as a problem solver that you can count on. Take the time to tell everyone you know that I am running for the November 19, 2011 Vancouver civic election. Please tell your family and friends to get the word out that I will be their ideal candidate to represent you at 12th and Cambie. If every person I know tells 20 people they know to vote for me we will take our position at City Council. We don't need a Lawns to Loaves program (growing wheat on our lawns), or chicken coops or beehives. What Vancouver needs is real solutions to real problems. Vancouver needs common sense back at city hall.

This I will deliver. Joe Carangi, your Voice at City Hall. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at jcarangi ( @ ) hotmail dot com dot
