  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) September 16, 2010 - JimmyJazz.com, a multi-chain retailer and award winning urban clothing & sneaker website is proud to announce their recent partnership with the innovative employment training program, Jefferson Houses Jobs-Plus.

The partnership was created in response to the lack of opportunity and resources available to low-income citizens during the nationwide recession. To address this reality, all parties recently launched the JAZZED UP internship program that serves both youth and adults by offering placements in fields such as social media marketing, information technology, design and photography. Each of the internship positions center around Jimmy Jazz's Lifestyle section, which offers original news, blogs, videos, music and entertainment features to visitors.

"We are excited for the opportunity to work with Jobs-Plus to help public housing residents at Jefferson Houses," stated David Wachter, Vice President of eCommerce & Direct Marketing for Jimmy Jazz. "Interns have a great opportunity to utilize their skill sets in a corporate environment while learning alongside mentors that have been in the workforce for years."

JAZZED UP allows for hands-on experience in the competitive fashion/entertainment sector as interns perform a variety of tasks such as market research, creating and implementing online marketing campaigns, graphic design, and assisting with photo shoots.

"New York City has a competitive advantage in the field of entertainment. JAZZED UP is a way for our members at Jefferson Houses to get started in that field and connected with employment in a sector that is growing in New York City, " stated Kristin Cahill-Garcia, Assistant Director of Jobs-Plus.

JAZZED UP addresses the needs of adults who are seeking to develop and enhance their skills or explore new career opportunities during the recession. An internship can help make important contacts in the field, and gain valuable experience to help people build their resume.

"There are so many programs with cut-backs resulting in the elimination of opportunities for many people. This is my way of helping those people explore new possibilities and to become equipped with the skills that they need to succeed in their careers and within their personal lives as well," stated Peter "Souleo" Wright, Training Coordinator of Jobs-Plus.
