She was 14 when her beloved father died of cancer, and she wrote the book to reassure other grieving teens that they have the right to grieve in their own way, and that they, too, will be able to find hope and healing.

Dr. Heidi is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Open to Hope Foundation and an adjunct professor at Columbia University.
