  • Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) September 23, 2011 - JD Malone has a plan unlike anything else ever attempted by a relatively unknown artist - an innovative way to address the fallen spirit of average Americans who just don't feel connected and don't think their voices can ever be heard. The DO WHAT YOU CAN DO Project, inspired by a song of the same name from his acclaimed new CD/DVD 'Avalon' (ItsAboutMusic.com), is the Philadelphia roots rocker's great attempt to resolve this problem, by delivering a potent message allowing anyone to change his or her life by "doing what they can do" to make a difference in their lives and those of others.

Malone and his band, the Experts, are delivering the message through a groundbreaking touring concept - the 'DO WHAT YOU CAN DO' U.S. Tour launching this fall. JD MALONE & THE EXPERTS will be traveling to cities and towns all over America, performing FREE concerts in conjunction with local and national charity organizations to bring people together to enjoy some great music, contribute whatever they can to those charities, and identify themselves as citizens who care enough to change the national mindset. JD MALONE & THE EXPERTS will be joined at each stop by local based "friends," and the artists will play with each others' bands on stage in a display of unity that celebrates the untapped self-empowerment in everyone attending to help their neighbors, whether they know them or not.

"We can change the world one person at a time," says Malone, "through music, compassion and understanding."

The "DO WHAT YOU CAN DO" U.S. Tour kicks off Oct. 13 in Nashville, with artists including Idlewheel featuring Jack Sundrud (of Poco), Don Henry, Craig Bickhardt, Trenna Barnes (formerly of Cowboy Crush), Joe Cerisano, Madonna Nash, Nathan Bell, Lizanne Knott and more to be announced. Souls4Soles and Second Harvest Food Bank of Tennessee will be among the local charities.

The fall leg of the tour continues Oct. 15 in Knoxville, TN, and moves onto Norfolk, VA, Bethlehem, PA and Philadelphia. Details of those and more shows will be announced and will also include Tampa, FL, Dallas, TX, Farmingham, MO and beyond. Malone has made an open-ended commitment to continue the "DO WHAT YOU CAN DO" U.S. Tour.

Malone and his band - Avery Coffee (electric guitar), Tom Hampton (pedal and lap steel, 12-string, acoustic, resonator & electric guitars), Jim Miades (bass), and Tommy Geddes (drums) - are currently making plans to raise touring funds through Kickstarter.com and other activities. Contributions from fans and supporters of their mission also are being solicited through the new website, www.DoWhatYouCanDo.com, to further defray costs associated with producing events of this magnitude. They also are being encouraged to go to the website to voice their opinions and contribute stories and comments about how they can make - or already have made - a difference, and enhance their discussions by posting photos and videos and linking to various social networks.

Radio and TV stations will be partnering with JD MALONE & THE EXPERTS along the tour route to help raise awareness for each DO WHAT YOU CAN DO event. Further public outreach will include public service announcements. There is no limit to the number of cities the "DO WHAT YOU CAN DO" U.S. Tour will eventually visit.

"Getting people to feel better about each other in today's economy is a daunting task," says Malone. "People need to know that they can make a difference by becoming a part of a unified community consciousness that enables them to reconstitute a better America."

"For us it's not about getting famous or even about making money. It's about taking the gift we have to create music and making it worth more than money or record sales. We're not trying to become feel-good gurus. We're just trying to do what we can do to make a difference. Together with the folks who join us, I know we can make the world a slightly better place."

JD MALONE & THE EXPERTS continue to earn consistently favorable media coverage for their stellar new debut CD/DVD package, with recent and/or upcoming notice in Maverick Magazine, NME, the Philadelphia Inquirer ("songs that grab you right away and then resonate deeply"), The Alternate Root Magazine, Pro Sound News, Friday Morning Quarterback, Aquarian Weekly and Philadelphia City Paper. Declared "extraordinary" by Goldmine," positively unshakeable" by the Iowa Press-Citizen and "dauntingly authentic" by AcousticMusic.com, Avalon has reviewers buzzing about this sparkling band led by a dynamic singer-songwriter "oozing with charisma" (Sirius XM) with a honey-sweet voice, and a roots rock/Americana sound. All Music Guide praised Malone as an "accomplished stylist" and the Experts for providing "cohesive rock arrangements with the occasional hint of country, also suggesting the likes of [John] Mellencamp and [Steve] Earle." The Colorado Springs Independent hailed Avalon's "appealingly pretense-free roots rock built on solid musicianship and seriously catchy melodies," and the McKeesport (Pa.) Daily News found the album "uniformly excellent," with music "that will keep you coming back for more."

More than 80 Triple A, Americana and Country stations are spinning tracks from Avalon, which was the #4 Most Added at Americana during its mid-July week of release - the highest new artist entry on the Americana (AMA) charts. In late August, Avalon was #1 on the Roots Music Report Radio Airplay Chart for Pennsylvania, while the band also cracked the Top 40 on the Americana Music Charts.

Co-produced by Grammy winner Phil Nicolo (Lauryn Hill, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan) and Dean Sciarra of ItsAboutMusic.com, Avalon was declared "utterly captivating" in a five-star review by Sea of Tranquility, and features a 37-minute DVD documentary of the band in studio rehearsals, with a 12-page, full-color booklet containing all lyrics and personal bios of each band member. The CD version includes five bonus tracks not available for download, making it a full 79 minutes long.
