Top Quote Do you know Shogi? It is a traditional strategical and logical game from Japan. The basic rules are like chess, but this game has some differencies that makes it more fun and totally different. Even chess haters love Shogi, try it! End Quote
  • (1888PressRelease) September 26, 2016 - Two IT students found out Shogi about 5 years ago, their full story is written in their first update on Kickstarter. From this time they are promoting Japanese chess all around their country (Czech Republic) and now they are trying to spread around the world with their unique design.

So why the ShogiCZ is interesting and what did they bring to this old traditional game?
Not only new and own design of the game board or the game box. The thing is that they completely changed the markings of the pieces. Before that there were only traditional pieces with Japanese kanji symbols (too hard for us from the west). There also exists some other versions with arrows, but they look like too messy.

Their genial idea was really simple - they wanted to allow Japanese people to play with western people without any borders. So they just redesign the pieces, combined the arrows (which are really nice and clear) with Japanese kanji symbols.

With the Kickstarter crowdfunding they are now trying to get funds for making bigger amount of their sets, they want to sell them all around the world, even in Japan. And of course they want to reach merchants and other companies, so they will not just stay in selling directly from their small e-shop in Czech Republic.
