Irfan Pathan flags of the selection teams for the North Zone of Ambuja Parivaar League

  • (1888PressRelease) November 19, 2010 - Ambuja Parivaar League a unique initiative by Ambuja Cement India's premier branded Cement Company for its dealers, who are an integral part of the Ambuja Aasman, a special relationship program. The Ambuja Parivaar League flaged off its North Zone selection in Delhi with six teams today however each team has 30 candidates out of which final 90 will be chosen today at the Vijay Dahiya Cricket Academy. This process will be followed by Jaipur, Jodhpur, Dharmashala and Jammu.

    Indian cricketing sensation Irfan Pathan who is the chief selector of the Ambuja Parivaar League selected 15 members to form the Delhi Devils team that will represent Delhi and compete with other teams to win the Ambuja Parivaar League trophy for the North Zone. The winner will then compete with other zones to win the Ambuja Parivaar League trophy.

    Cricket never ceases to find aficionados in India. Despite the busy work schedules, cut-throat competition and demanding personal lives, the game of cricket somehow manages to bring people together. The Vijay Dahiya Cricket Academy in the city saw 150 members of the Ambuja Aasman family compete for the converted top 15 slots of their respective teams. The enthusiasm among the participant was incredible; it was to such an extent that their bowling and batting performance was praised by Pathan himself.

    The selection process was completed under the keen and watchful eyes of Irfan Pathan. The selection was done on the basis of an exciting net practice session, where each participating Bowler and Batsman played a maximum of 1 over.

    Speaking on the occasion Irfan Pathan said, "I am enthused to see people from the entire dealer parivaar of Ambuja participate in this festival of cricket. Events like this build a spirit of camaraderie and bonding amongst the team members, and give impetus to those of us who don the national colors to bring pride to the country. In my opinion all the players who participated in the selection today are winners in the true sense. I congratulate Ambuja Cement for conceptualizing and executing an event of such magnitude."

    The tournament is a knock out tournament, with each side playing seven overs. Each bowler can bowl a maximum of 2 overs. All other ICC rules apply. In case of a tie, each team plays one super over and each side to nominate one bowler and three batsmen.

    Speaking on the occasion R A Tyagi from Ambuja Cement said, "Cricket is more that a sport in our country, it is a cult. Ambuja Parivaar League aims to make participants out of spectators, and give an opportunity to our partners in success to live the sprit of this legendary game. It is also a platform to create a bond among the distinguished members of the Ambuja Aasman family, which goes beyond business"
