  • (1888PressRelease) January 16, 2012 - Intersec 2012, the most significant trade and networking platform for safety, security and policing, is set to get underway tomorrow (Sunday, January 15th), with the focus firmly on homeland security, commercial security and fire and rescue.

Already nearly 15% larger than the previous edition, organiser Epoc Messe Frankfurt, reports that Intersec 2012 has attracted considerably more exhibitors than the last time around.

Featuring 910 exhibitors over 35,759 sqm of exhibition space at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Intersec is being held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Backed by the support of UAE Civil Defence, Dubai Police and Dubai Police Academy, the event has over the years become the platform of choice for international manufacturers and suppliers to interact with and access the regional market.

"With the continuing emphasis on maintaining stability and security in the region, we expect increased focus on new developments and trends in homeland security, commercial security and fire and rescue," said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt.

"The security community has always responded well to Intersec and we will continue to bring them security and safety solutions tailor-made for the region. Intersec strives to bring leading international experts and industry best practices into the region through organising seminars and workshops for security and safety professionals," Pauwels added.

While Commercial and IT Security, with over 500 exhibitors, continues to be the largest segment in the exhibition, Homeland Security, with its own dedicated hall for ease of access, is the section that is expected to attract significantly increased interest this week.

Notable among new entrants to Intersec is Siemens Building Technology. Exhibiting for the first time in Dubai, the company is the leading international player in fire detection and extinguishing as well as security solutions and danger management systems. They are launching the Cerberus Pro line on internationally-proven fire detection systems in the region.

Silver Sponsor Honeywell is showcasing its latest innovations in advanced security platforms. The company will be displaying their new MaxPro Video Management System, which will be demonstrated live via the Command & Control Center, capturing real time data from the new 2 Megapixel H.264 Performance IP series cameras and Network Video Recorders (NVRs). Honeywell's IP portfolio incorporates a powerful video management platform along with a comprehensive offering in recording solutions, including the latest IP networks, data and video analytics that utilize an open architecture to provide ultimate flexibility to end user companies around the world.

Schneider Electric, leading player in energy management, is to showcase key security solutions including its Endura video management system, hybrid DVRs, megapixel and IP cameras, Spectra PTZ cameras, thermal imaging cameras, as well as the Schneider Electric's Andover Continuum access control system.

Anant Berde, Vice-President-Gulf-Buildings Business, Schneider Electric, said: "Intersec is a key date in our annual events calendar. The event's timing in January will help us gauge the trend for the year ahead. We look forward to networking with our peers as well as leveraging the opportunity to generate some good leads."

Another leading player in video surveillance is Axis Communications, who will be displaying their latest range of digital surveillance solutions. Baraa Al Akkad, Regional Sales Manager, Axis Communications Middle East said, "The future looks bright for the IP video surveillance market in the region with the continued growth driven by the lower total cost of ownership, integration benefits and improved resolutions of IP network cameras. Intersec will be a great platform for us to interact with our customers and prospects in order to communicate the advantages of IP video surveillance. Given the diverse features and intelligent applications that can be leveraged through IP network cameras such as people counting, facial recognition and license plate recognition to name a few, more customers in the region are turning to IP video surveillance to meet their needs."

Always a big draw for the region's professionals, the Intersec Conferences are back this year with a packed programme of seminars and workshops. The programme includes the 1st Global Network Conference on Emergency Medicine, the Maritime Security Summit, the Commercial Security Summit and a Fire Systems Integrity Assurance workshop.

The Outdoor Demo area, another highly popular attraction, will feature a series of tactical rescues and close combat operations by FitreKraft, Austria, showcasing interactive scenarios across the fields of rescue, counter terror and law enforcement.

The UAE International FireFit Championship returns for the third edition this year. The competition is a tough test of strength and determination, featuring more than 100 participants drawn from the cream of professional fire fighting & emergency rescue teams in the Middle East, Europe, Asia and America.
